The new church is going up!

Last week a team from NLC in Taylorsville, NC came to help us get the roof on the new church building. They all gave 110% to get the “homemade” trusses built and set in place on the 40′x100′ facility which will become the church/clinic/secondary school in the village. We celebrated Easter together with the entire village on Sunday under the new structure! We had a dedication service for the new facility and all the village joined in prayer and worship for the gift God has given them. It has been 7 years to the day since the refugees from the 36 year civil war received official possession of their village from the Guatemalan government! What a celebration!

Fresh Water for Sesaltul

During the week past, five men from Sesaltul came to stay at the Global Training & Ministry Base for five days to be trained in water filtration and sanitation. They were elated to learn how to build “bio-sand” filters from our Clean Water specialist, Jeremy Israel from Guatemala City. Jeremy is a Calvary Missionary who specializes in clean water projects via well drilling, bio-sand filters and sanitation training seminars. The training was also for our 13 new interns in the Timothy Internship Program. On Friday they loaded up five of the new filters (which were cured and ready) and took them and the five men back to the village where they learded how to install and care for the new filters.

The new road is finished!

New Road in SesaltulThe new road was being finished as the new church was in session for the installation of the new pastor. This village waited several years for the government to finish the road for which funds had been allocated and then squandered by politicians. Now they have a road and a new church! The actual church building will be constructed next month by a team from New Life Church in Taylorsville, NC. The new facility will include a medical clinic, church and secondary school.  New Facility

Road to Sesaltul…

The road is now underway in La Nueva Sesaltul. The dozer arrived today and cleared the entire road to make way for the truck loads of gravel. There will be approximately 125 loads of gravel to finish the road and it should be complete in 3-4 days. Thank you New Life Church in Taylorsville, NC for making this dream a reality! One of the leaders of the village declared today that ” politicians and the government promised to build the road for several years and they failed. Now our God sent missionaries to do the job and it is happening!”. The entire village watched as the road materialized before their eyes. What a day for Sesaltul!

The La Nueva Sesaltul Project

090.JPGThe village La Nueva Sesaltul is located in the northern half of Guatemala known as Peten. The Peten Region was almost destroyed by the civil war lasting 36 years. Many of the villages that exist today are populated by refugees that fled the country during the civil war and have returned to make a home for themselves. These villages are very primitive with limited resources and little or no education available making it very harsh, difficult and many times hopeless.

Calvary International has launched the Adopt-a-Village Project to help meet felt needs as well as spiritual needs in this forgotten region of Central America. The Project includes providing fresh water, food, training and church planting among the villages in this Mayan World. There are many other projects sponsored by organizations such as reforestation and conservation, but hardly any with a concern for the humanity of the Peten Region.

The bridge is almost ready!

Villages of Guatemala need our help!

36 years of civil war have ravaged the Peten District in the north and we are working to bring hope to the people.
